An eye examination – or test – does two main things. Firstly, it determines vision and measures any visual error e.g. long or short sight; secondly, it assesses the health of the eye. A routine exam will take around thirty minutes, a little longer if more involved tests are needed. Contact lens fitting requires more time and may involve several visits to complete the process.
Sometimes people are a little daunted by the procedure but it’s all very relaxed and painless – we simply want to understand and treat your eyes. We are particularly sensitive with children, some of whom worry that it’s going to be like a school test. We use pictures for younger children so it’s like a game to them yet allows us to make an accurate assessment.
